Rick Rolt biographical details
 

 Rick Rolt is Green Party candidate for Sprotbrough Ward, Doncaster. Here Greens came second in 2007 and will be pushing for a breakthrough in May 2008.

 Rick  is chair of Doncaster Green Party and has also been selected as prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Don Valley constituency. 

 In 2005 Rick stood in the Mayoral Election gaining nearly 5,000 votes. He has been a Green Party  member for 5 years.


 
Career background

 Rick Rolt has served as a Firefighter for the past 24 years. After  first working in London, he moved to South Yorkshire and has been based operationally in Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. 

"Throughout my career I have been a member of the FBU, the Fire Brigade Union, including spells as a branch rep."

 Rick has also worked full time on two special projects: 

  • the 2004 World Firefighters Games hosted by South Yorkshire, and 
  • an investigation of ways the Fire Service could adapt its role to incorporate legislative changes bought about by the Crime and Disorder Reduction Act 1998. 

 Rick has a BSc (Hons) from the OU in Human Geography with studies in Environmental Science and Environmental Policy. 

 He has played Rugby League for 20 years and coached at National Conference level in Sheffield. He still enjoys running and (trying) to keep fit!

 Rick is currently Community Safety Watch Manager for the Doncaster district and is enrolled on a part time PGCE with the OU.

  Rick is married to Kim, Green parish councillor for Sprotbrough, and has 3 children.
