A former councillor, Steve Barnard grew up in Sheffield and has 25 years' political experience. 

Steve was a Green Party candidate in the 2009 European Parliament election. Previously, Steve spent 4 years on Sheffield City Council representing Darnall ward (1996-2000). 

Steve works in the city as part of a management team of a large community centre.

Steve specialises in grassroots campaigning aimed at getting more people involved in politics and having a voice to make improvements to their community.

For the last 10 years Steve has worked for a range of community groups and supported people to achieve their visions.

Steve now lives in Heeley with his wife and two sons.
